News: Iskandar waterfront zones now open to investments
Interested investors can now take part in the waterfront development of Iskandar Malaysia as chambers of commerce and industry, businessmen and other keen investors are urged to be involved in the development at the Tebrau basin, the central business district and at the Danga Bay waterfront.
These three zones compose the southern part of Iskandar Malaysia, which is dubbed as the up and rising growth area in the country.
According to Datuk Lim Kang Hoo, Chief Executive Officer of Iskandar Waterfront Holdings (IWH) Bhd, the three zones are the most strategically located in Iskandar and infrastructures like trunk roads are already in place in each zone.
As such this is a ripe opportunity for investors to be involved in the prime waterfront development, like construction of high-value projects such as condominiums and hotels.
"Any parties interested to engage in the development of the three areas are encouraged to do so," he said
"As the areas are part of the urban planning, do not expect to pay a low land premium. This is because we have invested in land reclamation and dredging which do not come cheap," he noted.
Johar Salim Yahaya, Chief Executive Officer of Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ), a company that owns several parcels of waterfront land in Iskandar, said that KPRJ is consolidating pieces of its interest with IWH.
"We have created a situation which is conducive for development. We need investors to come in as it will be too costly for us to develop everything on our own," he said.
"As a master developer, we will orchestrate the creation of value and to sustain it."
